My name is Mary Gibson. I am a grandmother and I passionatly care about children, especially those in desperate need of help and, above all, of love.

So this website is about children, deprived children, abandoned or orphaned children, children in Romania. Back in l99l in the aftermath of the fall of Ceaucescu you may remember the awful pictures on your television of the state orhanages in Romania with many, many children in cots, in awful conditions without care and worst of all without love.

When I saw them I decided I must do something. I flew out, saw the problems and returned to set up a charity to help. But that charity became too big, too unwieldy and too bureaucratic. So I went small, and set up a Charity totally run by volunteers which would bring - as far as possible - to the children the love and security of family.

That Charity is Friends of Children in Romania.
